Global Heat Attribution Study

Our lab’s flagship study, “Global attribution of temperature-related cardiovascular mortality to anthropogenic climate change,” has been officially published today in The Lancet Planetary Health.

Using climate models from the CMIP6 ensemble alongside health registry records representing over 65 million person-years, we isolated the proportion of heat-attributable excess deaths that can be specifically linked to human-caused greenhouse emissions. Across 43 countries evaluated, 37.2% of heat-related cardiovascular deaths were directly attributable to warming already experienced.
